The Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterna) is the current ruling party in Sweden, where the Prime Minister is Magdalena Andersson who succeeded Stefan Löfven in November of 2021. The party is left-wing and has served two mandates in a row, since 2014.
In terms of integration, during this period they have set up a fast track for new arrivals together with the parts of the labor market, so that new arrivals with skills can get education, internships or work quickly. They have also introduced a compulsory education for new arrivals. Anyone who refuses an education that is needed to become employable can have their allowance withdrawn. Also that they find it easier to improve their work experience through modern emergency jobs, and have invested in getting more newly arrived women into work. Socialdemokraterna have also reviewed the social orientation for more focus on prevailing norms and values in Sweden.
Despite the fact that Socialdemokraterna have contributed to a positive development for integration in Sweden, there are still more goals they aspire to reach. For them, it is important that everyone living in Sweden learn the basics of the Swedish language, which makes it easier to find a job, education and housing, which also leads to reduced segregation. They want all municipalities to contribute to the reception, so that no areas are fragile, which can be achieved through a larger investment in the million program (miljonprogrammet), with one billion SEK annually - which is approximately 96 million euros.
We as a group want to see an even better change in the near future, since it will affect not only the individuals who migrate to Sweden, but the whole society. For example by a reduced unemployment rate and a greater, more integrated and united community.
